St. John’s Endowment Fund (SJEF)

The Mission of the St. John’s Endowment Fund is to encourage Christian stewardship and to enhance the outreach ministry of the congregation by providing an orderly method for receiving and administering gifts bequeathed to the church through wills and other forms of estate planning.

A gift to the SJEF may be made in a variety of ways: bequests in wills, assignment of life insurance, charitable gift annuities and trusts, assignment of cash, securities, bonds, and real estate.

A gift to the SJEF is a lasting contribution to the church. The principal will be invested and will grow for many years to come. Each year 5% of the balance of the fund is used for outreach ministry.

For the year ending 2021, a total of $9,362.00 was given to the following outreach ministry recipients:

  • St. John’s Christian Preschool Scholarships  is a ministry of St. John’s Lutheran Church that encourages everyone to share a Christ-like love with each other and with the whole world! This is an ongoing fund that assists families in need with tuition costs for St. John's Christian Preschool.

  • Neighbor to Neighbor Latino Ministry -  St. John's, along with other ELCA churches in Eau Claire, is part of a new ministry of the NW Synod of Wisconsin. We join together to practice the gospel as we cultivate meaningful relationships between the Anglo ELCA congregations with the Latino American community in the NW Synod of Wisconsin.

  • Sojourner House provides a safe, clean place to stay for single men & women who are homeless.

  • Chippewa Valley Free Clinic provides the community with free medical help.

  • Luther Park Bible Camp offers bible camps and retreats for people to grow in their Christian faith and life.
  • Lutheran Mideast Development works primarily with women and children, victims of war and disaster in the Middle East. LMD's strategy fosters local, self-sustaining solutions that transform violence prone communities into models of peace and stability.
  • St. John's TV/Radio Ministry  is an outreach ministry of St. John's. "Together In God" is a great opportunity to share with Eau Claire and the surrounding communities our Sunday worship services.

St. John's Youth Mission Trip - We are commanded to love the neighbor as ourselves. Each
summer, high school youth have an opportunity to serve the neighbor on a mission trip.

JONAH (Joining Our Neighbors, Advancing Hope) works within the community to address
the root causes of poverty and injustice.
